Fix A Broken Photoshop Without Re-Installing

I want to share a very useful tip with all of you who have ever wanted to throw your computer across the room because of Photoshop for one reason or another.

It’s inevitable, every once in a blue moon, software can just make your day a living hell for no obvious reason.

It can be anything from the Layers palette won’t show up, to menu items grayed out when they shouldn’t be.

I want to show you a quick way to put your problems behind you without having to re-install Photoshop.

mini-tut: how to install the font to your computer

as a rule, fonts at the web-sources are compressed to archives, *.ZIP or *.RAR.
"zip" and "rar" are not a fonts, they are compressed archives.
you have to decompress 'em before installing.
righ-click and choose the "decompress" option =)
font-files have *.TTF or *.OTF extentions.

put your *.TTF font file into C:\WINDOWS\Fonts manually, using "Copy-Paste" option.
warning: it's not a good idea to drag your files by the mouse as you've seen in cool videotuts. it's an advertising trick -this is for very strong and fast professional machines.
if your notebook or PC is not so fast and strong- you'll catch glitches every time when you're dragging files here&there.

To install the "17 Christmas Orns - Photoshop Styles" unzip the archive anywhere on your PC, then put the *.ASL file into C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS3\Presets\Styles.

You can see your new styles in your "Styles Palette" now.
Like this (see → another sceenshot).

Now just choose the "Eclipse Tool" (see the screenshot below)

Hold and drug your mouse to draw a circle.

To constrain circle proportions hold Option Shift.

Then Window »» Styles and click the preffered style.

And you are done ☺

Saving Symbol Sets in Illustrator

Saving Symbol Sets

Symbols are graphics you might want to use later and not have to recreate.

Even graphics with gradient fills or gradient meshes can be saved as a symbol for use later.

To save a graphic as a symbol, simply grab it and drag it to the symbols palette and drop it.

It's now a symbol and you can use any of the symbol tools on it.

To save the symbol to be loaded later, however, there are a couple rules you have to follow.

Drag the symbol to the page from the Symbols palette to use it. Like the brush, it has to be used on the page to be saved.
Delete all unused symbols, graphic styles, brushes, and swatches as you did when you saved the brush.
Delete the symbol and any other artwork from the page.
Go to File > Save As and save the file. I recommend using the word 'symbol' (or something like sym that you know means 'symbol' in the file name, so you know at a glance it's a symbol file.
Save it in C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Illustrator CS3\Presets\Symbols or anywhere on your hard drive or an external drive to be loaded later.

When you want to use them, symbol files are loaded in the same manner as brushes.

Because symbols are vector, they can be resized as desired with no loss of quality.
